Whole Person Healing
What is WPH?
We introduced the term whole person healing (WPH) to be an accurate guide to what previously had been called—by rather misleading titles—CAM or complementary and alternative medicine; and even integrative medicine (since QiGong practices are hardly ‘medicine’). There is universal agreement that a PERSON has three ‘aspects’—body, mind and spirit. To be truly healed—made whole—all three aspects must be restored. But WPH also carries a second message: that our whole personhood can be accessed, affected, changed; healed through the body, or the mind, or the spirit.
To enrich the meaning of WPH we have three world leaders recognized in each area (featured on our homepage and on the next page) expand on the role of body, mind and spirit as healing vectors via an archival resource from the VoiceAmerica™ Talk Radio Network (online at www.voiceamerica.com on the VoiceAmerica™ Health & Wellness Channel) to key into this element of modern healing.
Dr. Andrew Weil, M.D., with his Program on Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona has done more than any group in the world to bring the wisdom of many of the world’s healing practices to the professional medical community, through his educational programs. Dr. Weil is the best-known and much admired face of the role of the body in health. His wisdom on nutrition and exercise—most often used self-help routes to health—have become the ‘standards of care’ in the field. Archive of September 12 VoiceAmericaTM program with Andrew Weil
Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D., an endocrinologist and founder of The Chopra Center for Wellbeing in Carlsbad, California, is the most prominent medical figure in the TV and blog sphere. Time magazine placed him in the 100 iconic figures of the 20th Century. Dr. Chopra’s polymathic mind itself illustrates the potential of all of our ‘mental’ capabilities, neither located in our brain nor localized to ourselves; he shows how this ‘consciousness’ can be and is widely shown to be a major force for healing of our own ‘person’; and of society.

Dr. Larry Dossey, M.D., is recognized as the authority for providing the latest insights on the role of the spirit in WPH. Dr. Dossey is, without near competition, the world’s scientific authority on the reality of spiritual healing. His starting and editing of two pioneering journals in the field of WPH exemplifies his rigor in dealing with the hard science underlying spiritual healing. His dozen books on the subject are each so meticulously researched, that it is incredible that anyone who studies them can ever question the reality of healing via the spiritual vector.

Prof. Rustum Roy, founder of Friends of Health and one of the world’s leading materials scientists, brings this unique WPH perspective, as a member elected to five National Academies of Science/Engineering of the U.S., Russia, Japan, Sweden and India—to bear on the major health topics of our times. Prof. Roy’s decade of work and involvement in the WPH community including all modalities from all traditions, covering the range from QiGong and Ayurveda, to Naturopathy and Homeopathy, exposes you to the most significant new scientific, and medical, knowledge and thoroughly tested wisdom, all from the respective experts.
For the last 20 years Prof. Roy has spent half his time making contacts with the leaders in each field, and bringing together the many different groups representing the world’s wisdom on healing of body, mind, and spirit—via body or mind or spirit—under the banner of the non-profit Friends of Health, the initiator of a program on VoiceAmerica™ Health & Wellness Channel. As in all the world’s great healing traditions, they (Whole Person Healing/Friends of Health) never require any fee for health-services; yet, clearly they can only thrive on goodwill offerings of all those who share their commitment to WPH via “Become a Friend” of Friends of Health.
